Big Crowds, Big Weekend for CrowdStrike in St. Petersburg
- Highly successful event on CrowdStrike-sponsored weekend
- Professional racing debut for CJ Moses in CrowdStrike-sponsored Audi R8
- Second CXO Summit for cybersecurity leaders a success in St. Pete
ST PETERSBURG, Florida – CrowdStrike and its guests enjoyed a weekend full of positives at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg as the Pirelli GT4 America opened its Sprint Championship on the streets of central Florida.
In addition to the professional debut of C.J. Moses in the No. 04 CrowdStrike/AWS/GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4, CrowdStrike served as the presenting sponsor for the GT4 America weekend and hosted nearly 50 guests for its second cybersecurity summit of 2019.
These “CXO Summits” designed for leaders to talk about cybersecurity trends, threats, and forecasts in the industry. Attendees learn from leaders such as CrowdStrike CEO and co-founder George Kurtz, and CrowdStrike President and CSO Shawn Henry. The networking events, co-sponsored by AWS, Accel, and SINET, continue at the race series’ GT Paddock Club, which also is sponsored by CrowdStrike and AWS. Guests also had the opportunity to meet racing legend Mario Andretti, and a lucky few even got to take a lap with him in a two-seater IndyCar on the seaside street course.
The contingent was among the tens of thousands at the St. Petersburg venue throughout the weekend.
Among the highlights for the crowd were a pair of races for the GT4 America Sprint category. Moses, driving the CrowdStrike Audi R8 prepared by Global Motorsports Group (GMG Racing), got his first professional laps of practice, qualifying and racing.
It was a weekend of learning for Moses with the Audi. He posted a top-10 class finish in Saturday’s first race with steadily improving lap times and confidence. Moses and GMG were looking to continue that momentum Sunday, but mechanical damage early in the race sidelined the Audi R8 after three laps.
“We came in to this weekend with plans for incremental improvement, and throughout testing and qualifications we were successful,” Moses said. “GMG provided me the best setup for the No. 04 CrowdStrike/AWS/GMG Racing Audi R8 GT4 LMS that was possible, given the recent, unfavorable balance of performance adjustments.
“I learned a lot during the two races and look forward to putting those lessons together for a much better result at the Pirelli GT4 America at Long Beach Grand Prix presented by AWS,” he added. “It’s an honor to represent CrowdStrike and AWS and team partners Accel and CeramicPro.”
The Pirelli GT4 Americas Sprint Championship continues its season with the Pirelli GT4 America at Long Beach Grand Prix presented by AWS on April 12-14 from the famed Long Beach (California) street circuit. For more information on the series, visit world-challenge.com.
