CrowdStrike Racing, Kurtz Seal the PWC Season with Two More Top-Five Finishes

Watkins Glen, New York (September 4, 2018) — CrowdStrike Racing wrapped up a dynamic Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) season over Labor Day weekend. George Kurtz, driver of the CrowdStrike-branded Global Motorsports Group (GMG Racing)-prepared Audi R8 LMS GT4, impressed in a doubleheader event weekend at the GP of Watkins Glen. He completed his intense year of both Sprint and SprintX competition by adding two more top-five GTSA finishes to his 14-race season.

In both Sprint races at this renowned track in upstate New York, Kurtz was in strong contention for a GTSA-class podium finish among a 21-car GTS field. His skillful maneuvers early in each of the 50-minute Sprint events saw him quickly overtake competitors with the No. 04 CrowdStrike/GMG Racing Audi R8, which he raced as high as third in the GTSA class. Kurtz earned a fourth-in-class finish in both events.

The CEO and co-founder of cybersecurity company CrowdStrike started the year out strong with a pole position at the St. Petersburg Grand Prix and earned a total of four top-five and 11 top-10 GTSA finishes. Half of Kurtz’ event weekends were dedicated to the SprintX championship, where he partnered with his racing coach and friend, Colin Braun, to share racing duties for the two-driver events. Each stop on the PWC calendar was at a premier North American track, which gave an opportunity for CrowdStrike’s corporate guests and Kurtz’ family and friends to cheer the team on as the silver-and-red CrowdStrike Audi R8 raced the road and street courses.

“Watkins Glen gave us a great holiday weekend of racing,” said Kurtz. “I was able to get a lot of seat time in the Audi R8 during these final two Sprint events and finish in the top five in both races. Thanks to GMG Racing, once again, for an excellent car prep and congratulations to the team for their triple championship this season.”

Next, CrowdStrike will host a group of guests on the West Coast at the Sonoma IndyCar race in California. This will be another one of the company’s CXO Summits, where its corporate guests meet to discuss the most pressing cybersecurity issues at hand. One more of these invite-only events will take place during the PWC’s Intercontinental GT Challenge at Laguna Seca in October. These continue the CXO Summits that CrowdStrike has hosted all year, beginning at IMSA’s Rolex 24 at Daytona in January and throughout the Pirelli World Challenge race season.
