Intense PWC Race Weekend in Virginia Yields Best Results of the Season for CrowdStrike Racing

Alton, Va. (April 30, 2018) — A heated fight for the podium, and a skillful battle through a field of sportscar competitors, gave way to a successful weekend for CrowdStrike Racing at the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) Grand Prix of Virginia presented by Audi Sport. Co-drivers George Kurtz and Colin Braun earned a fourth-place and a 10th-place finish at the two GTS-class SprintX races with the Global Motorsports Group (GMG Racing)-prepared Audi R8 LMS GT4.

Kurtz, CEO of cybersecurity company CrowdStrike, shared racing duties with sportscar specialist Braun for each of the sprint races. The first event allowed the two drivers to get a feel for the challenging raceway with the No. 04 CrowdStrike/GMG Racing Audi. A clean opening stint by defending GTSA champion Kurtz followed by a hallmark series of overtakes by Braun resulted in a top-10 finish out of over 30 GTS-class competitors in the Saturday afternoon race.

The pair’s chemistry from an established history of driving together paid off in Sunday’s race. Braun started from the second row and quickly identified an opportunity to overtake the race leaders to immediately place the No. 04 Audi in first position. A tough battle with an extremely competitive BMW and Mustang persisted for the entirety of the race. Braun and Kurtz each maintained a top-five position in their respective stints throughout the on-track battle, showing tremendous skill in staying in the mix no matter their opponent. Though he was in strong contention for third place, an early checkered flag due to a competitor’s crash placed Kurtz right outside of a podium finish, in a hard-earned and admirable fourth place.

Kurtz enjoyed the weekend and came away with a positive outlook on the SprintX events in Virginia. “Both Colin and I had a strong race, and the Audi R8 was fantastic,” Kurtz said. “It was a great result for CrowdStrike and gives us momentum for our next race. As usual, the team at GMG did a fantastic job!”

Co-driver Braun added, “What a great event today. George did an excellent job in the race and was right in the thick of the battle. I had a good opening stint, and the GMG guys executed a great stop, and then we all cheered George on! I had the most fun from the pit box watching George. Also, congrats to the No. 14 GMG Racing Audi team for another win!”

The races will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network on May 9 at 8 p.m. Eastern. The next race weekend will be held in Canada from May 18 to 20.
