CrowdStrike Bets on Rolex 24 Sponsorship after Ventures in Indianapolis 500, Pirelli World Challenge

Sunnyvale, Calif. (January 25, 2018) — There are only a handful of young corporations who have achieved a rapid ascent in their bid to align with professional sports teams at their signature events. CrowdStrike Inc., the Silicon Valley-based cybersecurity firm, is taking on motorsports sponsorship from the top. Their support of Formula 1 star Fernando Alonso's ride in last season's Indianapolis 500 race will be followed with sponsorship of the United Autosports team for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship's Rolex 24 At Daytona, held this January 25-28. CrowdStrike's involvement goes beyond traditional marketing and brand promotion. CrowdStrike's Co-founder and CEO, George Kurtz, is an awarded driver himself and will also compete during the race weekend which is regarded as the kickoff to the sportscar racing season.

A big part of this business initiative is to provide a platform for C-level executives in the nexus of cybersecurity and innovation to meet and exchange ideas with peers. By hosting CXO Conferences during race weekends, Kurtz takes business networking to whole new level. This weekend at Daytona, for example, co-sponsors LaSalle Solutions, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and their guests will get to meet double F1 champion Fernando Alonso in CrowdStrike's High Banks suite before watching the live race stream from the in-car camera on the dash of his No. 23 car. They'll get a tour of the paddock to see the team's operations up close, and will be treated to private meals both at the track and at their host hotel. And Kurtz, the 2017 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year winner for Northern California, will switch from his racing suit to his business suit throughout the weekend to welcome his guests to the first CXO Conference of the race season.

"We are thrilled to partner with CrowdStrike for the 24 Hours at Daytona race," said Steven Robb, president of the Solutions Group at LaSalle Solutions. "It's a chance to get together with our customers and partners for what is sure to be a fun weekend. We look forward to watching George Kurtz and Fernando Alonso in action, as well as joining in on CrowdStrike's CXO Cybersecurity Roundtable discussion. The entire race weekend is a perfect example of how motorsports and technology can come together to create new opportunities and unforgettable experiences for everyone involved."

Of course, at the centerpiece of this regale are ten talented drivers, seven of whom are competing in the most important endurance sportscar race in the United States. Two of twenty entries in the innovative Prototype class are run by CrowdStrike-sponsored United Autosports, the reigning champion in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) LMP3 class. For the 24 hour event at Daytona, they'll race LMP2 class cars — elaborate machines that are some of the fastest sportscars raced today. Two-time F1 champion Alonso, 2017 Asian Le Mans Series LMP3 Champion Phil Hanson and McLaren F1 official test and reserve driver Lando Norris will take the No. 23 JS P217 machine. In the No. 32 will be ex-F1 driver and 2017 LMP2 World Endurance Champion Bruno Senna, ex-F1 driver and current DTM pilot Paul Di Resta, 2017 ELMS Rookie of the Year Hugo de Sadeleer and 2017 ELMS LMP2 runner-up Will Owen.

"The whole team at United is excited to be on the eve of our Rolex Daytona 24 hour adventure," said Richard Dean, United Autosports' Managing Director. "To be working alongside such quality drivers and iconic names such as F1 stars Alonso, Senna, Di Resta is a real privilege. Our partners at CrowdStrike have been instrumental in making this historic event happen and have been alongside us every step of the way. Our team performance and presence have been improved through our CrowdStrike relationship and it will be a proud moment when we stand together on the starting grid for the start of the 24-hour race on January 27 to take on the toughest race in the world."

Kurtz himself will race a new Audi R8 LMS GT4 prepared by Global Motorsports Group (GMG Racing) in Friday's race, the BMW Endurance Challenge, held on January 26. This four-hour endurance event is hosted by IMSA's Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge. 2017 Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) GTSA Champion winner Kurtz, 2017 PWC GTA and SprintX GT Pro/Am Champion and GMG Racing team owner James Sofronas, and sportscar veteran Andrew Davis will share driving duties in the No. 14 car as they challenge their 30 competitors in the Grand Sport (GS) class. After Daytona, Kurtz plans to continue his race season with GMG Racing in the PWC series.
